The flue had a thick coating of Class III creosote, the hardened, glazed form that looks like tar and won’t come off with a standard brush. Left alone, it’s fuel. We used a rotary loop system to break the glaze, then a chemical treatment to loosen what remained. After, the liner showed clean clay from throat to cap, and the homeowner walked away with photos of both states, a written scope of work, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing.

The smoke chamber, the sloped shelf above the firebox, had years of creosote and mortar droppings narrowing the passage. That restricts draft and pushes smoke back into the room. We sealed the gap with HeatShield, a cast-in-place resurfacing system, and the odor was gone within a day. No masonry demolition was needed.

Full Flue Liner Clean and Inspection After a Neglected Decade in Richmond Hill

This one was a full cleaning, not a quick sweep. The homeowner had lived in the house for a decade and never touched the chimney. The flue was down to about half its original opening, which is both a draft killer and a fire hazard. We did a complete mechanical sweep, then ran the camera top to bottom to confirm the liner was intact. We found no cracks, so no liner work was needed. We told them that plainly. The written report said exactly that, with the photos to prove it.

Crown Spalling Repair and Cleaning in Bellerose

Spalling is what happens when water soaks into the crown, freezes, and pops the surface off in chunks. This one had pitting deep enough to pool water right at the flue base. We cut away the loose concrete, rebuilt the crown with a proper overhang and drip edge, and swept the flue while we were there. After, the crown shed water the way it’s supposed to. Gelco supplied the crown materials.
