Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild in Jamaica: What to Know First

Gelco chimney liner and rebuild work in Jamaica runs $1,800 to $6,400 for most homes, depending on whether we’re replacing a liner section or rebuilding brick from the roofline up. A stainless steel Gelco liner replacement typically takes one day on site; a partial rebuild runs two to three days. We give every Gelco owner a written price before any work starts, and the camera footage from the inspection is yours to keep. This page is for homeowners in Jamaica with a Gelco liner or Gelco-built chimney who need to know what failed, what it costs, and whether it can safely wait. Call (516) 240-9612 and we’ll schedule the inspection.

How Gelco Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Gelco flexible stainless liners cracking at the corrugation seams. We see this on the Gelco 316Ti flex liners installed in the 1990s and early 2000s, especially in Jamaica row houses where the flue runs long and hot. Hairline cracks at the seam folds let flue gas escape into the chase. The fix is usually a full liner replacement with a current 316Ti alloy, not a patch.
  • Gelco rigid liner sections separating at the slip joints. On taller chimneys, thermal cycling works the slip joints loose over ten to fifteen years. You’ll hear a metallic rattle on windy days, or the draft will go weak when the wind shifts. We re-seat and mechanically fasten the joints where the liner is sound; where the metal’s thin or warped, the section gets replaced.
  • Crown spalling above Gelco liner terminations. The liner top plate and crown is where Jamaica weather does its worst: freeze-thaw cycles through wet winters crack the crown, water tracks down the outside of the liner, and you get spalling brick and rust staining at the flue. We rebuild the crown with a proper overhang and drip edge, then re-flash the liner collar.
  • Creosote glazing on Gelco liners serving wood stoves. Gelco liners with a smooth interior wall are more forgiving than corrugated, but a stove burning less-than-seasoned wood still glazes them with Class III creosote, the hard shiny stuff that won’t brush off. We remove it with a rotary whip system sized to the liner diameter, then camera-scan to confirm the walls are clean.
  • Improperly sized Gelco liners causing draft failure. We inherited more than a few Jamaica installations where the liner was sized to the appliance flue collar but not to the chimney height and appliance draft requirements. The symptom is chronic backdrafting and smoke rollout. The fix is a draft calculation, a correctly sized liner, and often an insulation wrap to keep flue gases hot enough to rise.

Our Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Process

Our Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Process
  1. 1
Camera scan first. We run an NFPA 211 Level 2 camera inspection down the entire flue, top to smoke chamber. You see the footage as we record it, and it becomes part of your job record under Haven Standard Clause 4.
  2. 2
Written scope and price. Based on what the camera shows, Corrine writes up exactly what needs doing, what parts we’ll use, and what it costs. Nothing begins until you approve it in writing.
  3. 3
Parts decision: OEM or equivalent. For Gelco liners, many components are standard sizes and well-served by current aftermarket equivalents from DuraFlex or HeatShield. We’ll tell you plainly when OEM Gelco matters and when a quality equivalent does the same job for less.
  4. 4
The work. Liner removal and replacement, partial rebuild, or full rebuild: our crew arrives with the old liner out and the new one in, insulated where the chimney demands it, terminated with the correct cap and storm collar.
  5. 5
The test and the record. We run the appliance, verify draft, and scan the new liner so you have before-and-after photos in your hands. You walk away with the full written record.

What Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Costs in Jamaica

Here are the numbers we quote most often in Jamaica, written flat so you can plan:

  • Gelco stainless steel liner replacement, one-story flue: $1,800-$2,600
  • Two-story liner replacement with insulation wrap: $2,800-$4,300
  • Liner plus crown rebuild: $3,200-$5,400
  • Full chimney rebuild from the roofline up, including new Gelco liner: $5,500-$9,800

What moves the price: chimney height and roof access, whether the old liner comes out clean or fights us, brick condition at the crown and shoulders, and whether the smoke chamber needs parging while we’re in there. Every quote is line-itemed so you see exactly where the money goes. Call (516) 240-9612 and we’ll put a written estimate in front of you, no obligation.

Why Jamaica Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Jamaica for Gelco Work

We’ve been running camera scans on Jamaica chimneys since 2009, and the Gelco liners in the older row houses near Jamaica Avenue rarely match what the seller’s disclosure claimed. That’s why we document everything before we touch anything. Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed, your tech arrives on schedule, and you get the license number before work begins. If a Gelco part is discontinued or backordered, we source from DuraFlex or HeatShield through our buying network, so you’re never stuck waiting on a supply chain. And every Gelco job carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. The camera doesn’t negotiate, it just shows what’s there, and that’s the record we hand you at the end.
